Troy beat Mississippi State on Friday in Their Season Opener


In a brand new arena in Troy, the Trojans of celebrates a 

Troy 56, Mississippi State 53 win on Friday.

 

Sun Belt Conference Troy Trojans also beat a major conference team on Friday, when Mississippi State came to town to open their first game of the season. Both teams and fans enjoyed the luxury of the brand new $40 Million arena.

“You see stuff like that on TV all the time at the big colleges,” senior guard Emil Jones said. “To have it at home was real big.”

It spoiled Mississippi State coach Rick Ray’s debut and G.W. Carver graduate Craig Sword’s first college game.

Tevin Calhoun scored 12 points off the bench to lead Troy, while Jones and Williams added 10 each. Jalen Steele had 16 points, Trivante Bloodman 11 and Gavin Ware 10 for MSU.

On Monday, the Trojans will travel to face Texas A&M Aggies.
