Middle Tennessee open their conference play with a win over FAU


After a disappointing loss to McNeese State in week 1, Middle Tennessee found a way to come back and win in their conference season opener over Florida Atlantic.

Logan Kilgore threw two touchdown passes to Anthony Amos and Middle Tennessee dominated the ground game in a 31-17 Sun Belt Conference win over Florida Atlantic on Saturday night.

The Blue Raiders (1-1, 1-0) had two 100-yard rushers in a game for the first time since 2009. Freshman Jordan Parker finished with 117 yards on 17 carries and Drayton Calhoun rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on 14 attempts.

Middle Tennessee amassed 302 of its 480 yards on the ground while the Owls (1-1, 0-1) finished with 96 yards rushing.
Kilgore hit Amos with a 38-yard TD with 16 seconds elapsed in the second quarter, then found him again for a 26-yard score to make it 24-3 with 29 seconds left in the third. Amos finished with a career-high 102 yards on four catches.

Florida Atlantic's Graham Wilbert was 25 of 32 for 260 yards and two touchdowns.
