Ross to start for South Alabama against No.23 Mississippi State

Ross Metheny, who has played a backup role at quarterback in South Alabama's first three games, is expected to be the starter for Saturday's game against SEC Mississippi State.
QB Ross Metheny

Ross has proven to be a quality quarterback on the field and in the game, but his real test will come tomorrow night in Starksville.

Metheny threw for more yards than Bennett in last weeks game, becoming for first South Alabama quarterback to lead the team in passing yards since the UC-Davis game of 2010, when Bennett began a string of 17 straight games as the top passer.

Metheny and Bennett are expected to share time against MSU as they have done the past two games.

I guess someone at South Alabama reads my blog and most recent article about the Jaguars mentality and attitude, that got about 1,700 views...I hope that Metheny will be that quarterback to connect with the offense to get the ball to first downs and in the red zone a lot more.
