South Alabama and Troy football rivalry getting a little tension early

The rivalry between two Sun Belt Conference teams, South Alabama Jaguars and the Troy Trojans is scheduled to kick off for the first time ever on Sept. 29th in Mobile, Alabama at Ladd Pebbles Stadium.

SOUTH ALABAMA JAGUARS
This is a highly anticipated game among fans of both teams and seems to be getting a little fever from Troy Univeristy head coach Larry Blakeney.

The first ever conference football game between the two is drawing a lot of attention, a game that is well on its way to being a must attend event.

Will South Alabama cause an upset in the first conference game of their history? Well that’s what many Jaguar fans are hoping for on September 29, 2012. But Troy feels that they will not be defeated by a new comer that has only played teams that they knew they could beat to become such of a somewhat famous team early on.

The rivalries between the two SBC schools are already heated up. Both teams and fans are hoping for a win, these two Sun Belt teams will battle it out many years to come from the Port City of Mobile to the Wiregrass of Troy, Alabama.

In the midst of getting ready for the first ever conference game between the SBC schools, Troy head coach Larry Blakeney has spark a little fire. It seems as though coach Blakeney is not happy with the Jaguars.

Blakeney recently had an interview with The Daily News Journal of Tennessee and had the following to say about South Alabama being unclassified for it’s first two seasons and thus allowing recruits to play all five of their eligibility years instead of only having five years to play four seasons.

“I think it’s bullcrap, myself,” Blakeney said. “Anything that gives one school an advantage in recruiting like that should not be there. We’ve lost some players to them because of that. But the main thing is the game.”

Blakeney also thought South Alabama only played teams they could beat during their first two seasons to build a fan base.

“It will be a rivalry in this state, and I expect (the stadium) will be full. They’ve done a great job of developing fans because they haven’t played anybody that they couldn’t beat for two years,” said Blakeney, with a hint of sarcasm. “That made everybody happy. I thought it that was brilliant.”
TROY TROJANS

Could this be a sign that coach Blakeney is nervous about this new Sun Belt Conference team? It sounds like it to me; regardless of the pass Mr. Blakeney it’s now time to face the future. It’s time to see if you and the Trojans can really defend being the all time conference champions in the Sun Belt Conference.

South Alabama has put together a 23-4 record over three seasons against beatable opponents. In the meantime, it has taken its advantage to get the upper hand in recruiting, especially against in-state foe Troy University.

Now it’s time for some rivalry football between two great teams, the first ever conference game for South Alabama will kick off on September 29, 2012 at Ladd Pebbles Stadium. A stadium that will hold at least 40,000 fans; and believe to be the largest in the Sun Belt Conference. Many fans will flock to see the Trojans take on the Jaguars for the first time ever.
