Draequon Murphy commits to Arkansas State

Draequon Murphy became the first commitment for Gus Malzahn and his coaching staff for the Class of 2014 when the talented athlete from Montgomery Carver HS pulled the trigger Saturday after an unofficial visit.

Draequon Murphy 6’2, 200lbs has said he will sign with Arkansas State, Carver coach Billy Gresham said Sunday and could sign in February of 2013.

Murphy’s statistics from last season were not available.
Murphy is the second Carver player to make a Division I-A commitment.

Carver finished 7-4 last year and reached the Class 6A playoffs.

Murphy also plays basketball for the Wolverines. He was a reserve but saw considerable playing time for last year’s state championship team.
