Former Ohio State and Alabama Duren Carter officially at Florida Atlantic

News has been circulating about Duron Carter future and if we would end up at Florida Atlantic, well that news is over.

WR, Duron Carter
Former Alabama and St. Thomas Aquinas wide receiver Duron Carter has enrolled at FAU and practiced with the Owls Saturday, bringing an end to the transfer speculation that surrounded the talented, but troubled receiver.

Carter, the son of NFL wide receiving great Cris Carter, went through a full workout with his new teammates, though he didn't wear shoulder pads.

While Carter is on the field and in the program, his eligibility for 2012 is still in question — the Owls' attention will now turn to securing Carter a hardship waiver with the NCAA, which would allow him to be eligibile this season.

If his waiver is denied, the NCAA will force him to sit out 2012, after which he will have have one year of college eligibility remaining.

Carter signed with Ohio State out of Ft. Lauderdale's St. Thomas Aquinas, and had a strong freshman season, catching 13 passes. But academic problems led Carter to leave OSU.

He then transferred to Coffeyville Community College in Kansas, where he put up big numbers (44 receptions, 690 yards, 10 touchdowns in nine games) and landed a scholarship offer from Alabama.

But Carter never played a game for Alabama, sitting out all of last year for what was believed to be further academic deficiencies. Carter left the Alabama program earlier this summer.
