The Trojans of Troy, Alabama will return to the
practice field today around 8:00am with a three hour schedule planned.
Troy
head coach told a local media outlet that, "We've been working on being a
team and understanding each other and playing for the right reasons and trying
to get back to a championship caliber. That's our goal and our quest, to win
the Sun Belt and to find ourselves in a bowl, something that has been a part of
our deal here that didn't work out that way last year. I think everybody -
coaches and players alike - have self-evaluated in the offseason and worked
hard and we've had a lot of good things happen from an accountability
standpoint. We always have a few disappointments; when you work with
100-something guys you're going to have a few of those. But we're working on
that from a team standpoint and we're looking forward to (today) and the first
practice and start trying to find the pieces that fit.''
Troy
brings in former Southern Cal cornerback T.J. Bryant. Troy will also
welcome cornerback Lenyatta Kiles Jr. from Indiana.
The
Trojans will practice from 8:15-11:15 a.m. today through Aug. 10. They will add
extra practice sessions Tuesday and Aug. 9 from 3:15-4:30 p.m. Troy's first
scrimmage is set for Aug. 11 at 11 a.m. Fan Day is set Aug. 12 at Veterans
Memorial Stadium from 1-2:45 p.m. The Trojans will practice from 8:15-11:15
a.m. on Aug. 13 and 14. Classes begin at the school on Aug. 15.
I
look for Troy to put extra work during these practices; the Trojans had a
disappointing season last year. They are bringing in three new cornerbacks this
fall and Troy should make some noise this season to climb back up the latter.
