Sun Belt Conference ready for the upcoming season

Sun Belt Conference Teams 2012
The 2012 season looks to be a competitive season for the Sun Belt conference.

All teams bring back starting quarterbacks and experienced players. Florida Atlantic is the only team that may switch QB’s during the preseason camp.

The Sun Belt is mostly loaded with offense, but is sprinkled with some defense like that of FIU (14th nationally in points allowed per game) and South Alabama that is ranked 12th nationally by SI.com. ASU Ryan Aplin and ULL Blaine Gautier should light up the season and games in the Sun Belt Conference

The Sun Belt Conference (SBC) is nowhere near the powerhouses of the major BCS conference schools such as Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Michigan just to name a few, but the Sun Belt Conference may be able to make their way up the latter over the next couple years and be one of the top non-BCS conferences. It is realistic to think that they may have a team ranked in the top 25 either this season or next with up-coming teams like Arkansas State, Louisiana-Lafayette, and the pre-mentioned FIU.

Last season five mid-majors teams finished in the top 25.

The Sun Belt Conference will take their excitement to the field beginning August 30, 2012, when both South Alabama and Middle Tennessee play their first games of the season. South Alabama will take on UTSA and Middle Tennessee will take on McNeese State. Both conference teams will play on home turf and should be two wins for the Sun Belt.

Most of the Sun Belt teams will kickoff their fall practice this week or early next week; South Alabama and Arkansas State will kick off preseason practice on Thursday with Florida Atlantic on the practice field today (Wednesday).
